CompUSA Empty

Late last year, I remarked about the death of retail computer chain CompUSA. It died a fiery death in some parts, but other locations took months to finally shutter. Oddly enough, their website is still up and appears as if nothing ever happened.

From Gizmodo comes two very sad photos of a store after the final end rush. Insert a tumbleweed and you’ve got your ghost town. Have a look and take a moment to reflect.

It’s strange when big chains close down for good. I remember the slow spiral of Nobody Beats the Wiz (in the face of the rise of BestBuy). And it wasn’t too long ago that Caldor was taking care of business. Before that, it was Rickel shocked us when they close. But like an old tree that falls in the forest, something new will take it’s place. We must move on.
